Fisheries Council of Canada Announces its Future Leaders Canada Class of 2024
OTTAWA, ON – The Fisheries Council of Canada (FCC), in collaboration with the National Fisheries Institute (NFI), is thrilled to unveil the 2024 cohort of its Future Leaders Canada career development initiative. The program welcomes individuals employed within the fish and seafood industry and offers them a unique opportunity to expand upon their career knowledge and acquire expertise and insights that will add to their future opportunity in their organizations and the sector at large.
This year’s Future Leaders Canada group is comprised of eight individuals, each bringing with them a range of experience and skills:
- Alex Arsenault – Sales Executive, Maritime Paper Products
- Marc Bishop – Category Manager, Whitecap International Seafood Exporters
- Corey Blenkhorn – Business Development Manager, Argentine Scallops, Clearwater Seafoods
- Jonathan Bragg – Fleet Controller, Ocean Choice International
- Cheryl Copage-Gehue – Director of Indigenous Relations, Clearwater Seafoods
- Brad Hookey – Category Manager, Whitecap International Seafood Exporters
- Katie Lindsay – Marketing Manager, Underwater Harvesters Association
- Susan Luscombe – Director of Sales, Whitecap International Seafood Exporters
“The strength of the Canadian fisheries industry relies on the strength of our future leaders,” said Paul Lansbergen, President, Fisheries Council of Canada. “We’re pleased companies are choosing our program as part of their investment in their people. Together, we are creating well-rounded champions for the industry.”
The Future Leaders Canada program consists of three immersive three-day sessions, each set in a distinct and vibrant location, spanning from May to August 2024. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of fisheries-related learning experiences, closely collaborating with government officials, retailers, restaurateurs and others along the supply chain. The sessions will be hosted in Ottawa, Ontario; Chicago, Illinois; and Saint John, New Brunswick, offering participants a rich and multifaceted exploration of the industry. As a complementary and optional networking boost, those attending the Seafood Expo North America in Boston this week have been invited to participate in NFI’s Future Leaders Alumni reception.
