
Telling Our Sector’s Story – What We Shared
For the past three years, the Fisheries Council of Canada has been on a mission to showcase the best and brightest facets of our industry – there are a lot of them! – through our Telling Our Sector’s Story project. Funded by the federal government through Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Canadian Fish and Seafood Opportunities Fund, this initiative aimed to increase public trust for the Canadian fisheries sector by promoting its sustainability, stewardship and economic contributions.
Over the course of this project, visibility for Canadian fisheries increased by 175% in traditional media and on social media. Positive sentiment increased by 54% and negative sentiment decreased by 8%.
As we wrap up this important work at the end of our funding cycle, we wanted to recap some of what we’ve shared since January 2020.
